■ DIGITAL CRITICAL THINKING · PROGRAMME 05

Critical, competent consumers
in the digital ecosystem.

Tools to identify, analyse, and verify information circulating in the digital world.

Critical.

Competent. Informed.

To meet this challenge, courses have been designed to turn participants into critical, competent consumers, giving them the tools needed to identify, analyse, and verify the information they find in today's digital ecosystem.

We understand that each person has different needs, which is why we offer two ways to take the courses.

Flexibility to learn

01

Online format

A facilitator once a week. Each 90-minute session with practical activities with participants.

02

In-person format

Experiential workshops in small groups, maximum 15 people, with practical exercises, group dynamics, and printed materials.

■ WORKSHOP 01

Understanding News and Fact-Checking

Don't let them fool you! Learn to verify what you read online.

Do you receive WhatsApp chains or see news on Facebook and wonder if they are true? This workshop is a guide of tools and practical tips to help you tell real information from false in minutes. The goal is for you to feel safer browsing the internet and confident about what to believe and what to dismiss.

Aimed at anyone who uses social networks and wants to learn to protect themselves from deception and disinformation (information integrity). You don't need to know anything about technology — just be curious.

By the end you will be able to:

  • Apply a 3-step checklist to evaluate any news item.
  • Recognise the most common warning signs in fake news.
  • Use free tools to tell whether a photo is real or outdated.
  • Talk calmly with friends or family who share false information.

01

Why is fake news so appealing?

Shocking or anger-provoking headlines are designed to make us share without thinking. Understanding this is the first step to avoid the trap.

02

The 3-step method: Pause, Question, and Compare

Pause: Don't share immediately. Question: Who says this? Why? Compare: Does any reputable outlet report the same thing?

03

Easy tools at your fingertips

A practical workshop where you will learn to use Google's reverse image search on your own phone.

04

What do I do now?

A personal action plan for consuming information more healthily and tips for acting when someone shares something false.

■ WORKSHOP 02

Media and Digital Literacy in the AI Era

Understanding the Digital World: How AI and Algorithms decide what you see.

Do you feel Instagram reads your mind or YouTube always knows what video to recommend? It's not magic — it's algorithms and artificial intelligence. In this workshop we open the hood of the internet so you can simply understand how these technologies organise the content you consume every day and how this affects your view of the world.

Aimed at anyone curious about how social networks work behind the scenes and the impact technology has on our lives.

By the end you will be able to:

  • Explain what an algorithm is using a simple example.
  • Understand how platforms personalise the content they show you.
  • Recognise the filter bubble effect in your daily life.
  • Identify new ways AI is used to create both real and fake content.

01

The secret chef of your internet: What is an algorithm?

Everyday examples like a cooking recipe to explain what an algorithm is and how Spotify, Netflix, Facebook, and Instagram use them.

02

A world made for you: Personalisation and the bubble

How platforms learn from your preferences to build a profile about you and the filter bubble phenomenon.

03

The arrival of Artificial Intelligence

What AI is, how it can generate images, texts, and voices that seem real, how it is used positively, and what its risks are.

04

How to navigate a world with AI?

Practical tips for moving in this new landscape and valuing reliable information sources.
